There is a new emissions driving cycle being rolled out and it will cause BMW to add an Otto particle filter to their cars. Instead of doing this, BMW M has decided to simply end production of the F80 a bit early. So there will be a gap in availability between the F80 and G80 which comes after it.
The non M vehicles are having a compact steel cardan shaft being installed so that room for the filter can be added to the exhaust system.
